Thursday Preparation to be done before class starts. We will prepare for class by watching videos and/or reading. This participation is recorded through WeVideo for videos and short quizzes for readings.

Please read the syllabus, so you know how you're graded. Aspects may be on the morning quiz.
We have to organize into project groups: 4 students each interdisciplinary group: that is, there must be at least one technical person and one arts person in each group. Please read over the groups on the bottom table of the homepage and see which group you are interested in. If we can assemble into groups on our own, excellent. Otherwise, I'll organize groups over the weekend.
Please introduce yourself to the class on this introduction chat. I will read this and note the project you are interested in. Projects are on the table at the bottom of the homepage.
WeVideo: Please see High Power Solar Cooking in Togo. This video will give you an idea of the technology and the environment we may be working in.
You will be asked to signup for WeVideo free of charge. Please use last name_first name. For instance, I would use Schwartz_Peter. You may need this invite: If you've already used WeVideo, you can join our class with this code: r8vd5qy. Lastly, and likely most conveniently, you could just scan is QR:
WeVideo will give you full credit if you watch the video until the end and answer all the questions. It doesn't matter if you answer the questions right or wrong... but do try to answer them correctly.
Read through 2 development models: Can Extreme Poverty Be Eliminated? and A Modest Proposal. Please share your thoughts on this week's discussion board.
Check out on Wikipedia (or some other means), who are the authors: Jeffery Sachs and William Easterly? and which one do you think is best friends with U2's Bono? Be prepared to discuss which one you agree with more and why.

Thursday In Class: discussion about readings and introduction/organization of group:

Establish a spokesperson
Make a tentative plan/agreement about your project goals, which we expect may change throughout the quarter.
Establish a website for your project due before noon, Tuesday. The only requirements for this website at this point is:
- Have it established and Email me the link
- Have a title
- Have a picture of your group having fun. Also have each of your names (of those willing to have their name posted. I understand if some wish to remain anonymous) This will be the beginning of an "about us" page that has a brief bio of each of you... but you can just start with the picture
